Margot Robbie Aznude: the Loft Smells Like Rain and Coffee

Editör 5 min read
Margot Robbie Aznude

Key takeaways

  • She keeps the boots on the whole time.
  • The silk slip drops before the first roll of film is finished.
  • Dex never stops talking her through it, and she never stops answering.

The Loft Smells Like Rain and Coffee

The loft sits on the third floor of an old warehouse, all exposed brick and cold radiators, and the rain is coming down hard enough to drum on the skylight like somebody knocking. Dex has been there since nine, dragging softboxes into place, taping marks on the floor, burning through a pot of diner coffee that tastes like a penny. Margot shows up late, no apology, just a wet trench coat and a smirk, hair pinned up and dripping at the ends. She kicks the door shut with her heel. "You gonna make me work for it or what?" she says, and drops her bag on the crate by the window. Dex laughs, tells her the light's already set, tells her to stand on the tape. She does. She stands there and lets him look, and the looking takes a while.

Silk Slip Hits the Floor

She unbuttons the trench slow, one at a time, like she's counting something. Underneath is a champagne silk slip, thin as a whisper, and the softbox light goes straight through it and puts every curve on display. No bra. You can see the shape of her nipples through the fabric, and Dex doesn't bother hiding that he's staring. "Camera's up," he says, voice a little rough. "Then use it," she says back. The first clicks are stiff, posed, her chin down, her hand on her hip. Then she loosens up, starts moving to the playlist, slow soul coming out of a tinny speaker, and the slip rides up her thighs with every sway. She hooks a thumb under the strap and drags it down her shoulder. Pauses. Looks right down the barrel of the lens. "Keep shooting," she says, and the strap falls, and the silk goes with it, and she's standing there in nothing but black boots and a thin gold chain.

Margot Robbie Aznude, No Filter

Dex moves in close, the 35mm prime almost touching her, and she leans back against the brick and lets him work. The light catches the sweat coming up on her chest, on the soft swell of her belly, and she's breathing deeper now, not acting. He tells her to turn, and she turns, and the whole long line of her back is right there in the frame, the dimples above her ass, the muscle moving under the skin. "Lower," she says. He lowers. She spreads her stance a little, boots planted wide, and the shutter starts snapping fast and steady, and she's got one hand flat on the brick and the other sliding down her own stomach, unhurried, like she's got all night. Down between her thighs. Back up. Down again. Dex catches the shine on her fingers and groans under his breath. "You're killing me," he says. "Good," she says, and bites her lip and keeps going, hips rolling into her own hand, and the clicks don't stop.

He sets the camera on the crate eventually. She's already on the daybed by the window, knees up, boots still on, and she crooks two fingers at him. He comes over and she gets his belt undone and pulls him down by the shirt, and they kiss like they've been holding it in for hours, teeth and tongue and her hand flat on the back of his neck. He gets the condom on, fumbling, and she laughs at him, and then he's pushing into her slow, and her laugh cuts off into something lower. She hooks a boot heel over the back of his thigh and pulls him deeper. "There," she says. "Right there, don't get cute." He doesn't get cute. He gives it to her steady, forehead down against hers, and she talks the whole way through it, half words, little instructions, her nails digging into his shoulder blades. The rain keeps coming. The daybed squeaks. She comes with her head thrown back and her hand fisted in the sheet, and he follows a few strokes later with his face buried in her neck.

Afterglow and Cheap Coffee

They lie there after, breathing hard, the skylight going grey with the storm easing off. She's still in the boots. She reaches over him for the cold coffee and takes a swig and makes a face. "This is terrible," she says. "Told you," Dex says. She passes him the cup anyway. He drinks. She pulls the sheet up to her waist and stares at the ceiling and neither of them says anything for a while, and it's the good kind of quiet.

What time does the shoot kick off?

Late — she rolls in around 11:40 p.m., and the light's already set before she walks through the door.

What does she actually wear in the scene?

A wet trench over a champagne silk slip, black boots, and a thin gold chain. The slip is gone inside the first few minutes.

How does the shoot end?

The camera gets dumped on a crate, they end up on the daybed, and afterwards it's cold coffee and a shared sheet and nobody in a hurry to leave.
